Preview: Arsenal Women vs. Everton Ladies - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Women's Super League clash between Arsenal Women and Everton Ladies, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

After their 100% start to the Women's Super League season was ended with a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, Arsenal Women will look to get their title challenge back on track when they face Everton Ladies on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have lost their last two WSL games, but they have the chance to claim consecutive victories after beating Sheffield United in the League Cup last weekend.

Arsenal began the season in impressive form, winning 13 and drawing one of their opening 14 games in all competitions before they were beaten 3-2 against Man United in their last outing.

The Gunners came from behind to take a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Frida Maanum and Laura Wienroither, but an 85th-minute equaliser from Millie Turner was followed by Alessia Russo's stoppage-time winner, which helped Man United claim a 3-2 victory to bring an end to Arsenal's 18-game unbeaten league run.

Jonas Eidevall's side were unable to return to winning ways in their most recent outing game against Juventus in the Champions League, but a Vivianne Miedema equaliser ensured that the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.

They will now turn their attention back to league matters, and the second-placed side head into the weekend three points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, although Arsenal have a game in hand over the Blues.

Having enjoyed a run of seven consecutive WSL home victories prior to the defeat to Man United, the Gunners will be confident that they can claim three points on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Everton are preparing themselves for another tough test after facing both Manchester clubs in their previous two league games.

A heavy 3-0 defeat to Man United was followed by a narrow 2-1 loss against Manchester City, leaving Everton in eighth place.

They managed to bounce back last weekend when they faced Championship side Sheffield United in the League Cup, with goals from Katja Snoeijs, Hanna Bennison and Jess Park guiding the Toffees to a 3-0 victory.

As a result of that comfortable win, Everton have now won their last three away games in all competitions, keeping clean sheets in all three victories.

Although, with their last 14 competitive meetings with Arsenal ending in defeat, Everton will have their work cut out to pick up at least a point from Saturday's contest.

Team News

Arsenal are still expected to be without the services of Leah Williamson, Rafaelle and Kim Little, while Beth Mead is a long-term injury absentee.

Miedema was brought into the starting lineup for the draw with Juventus, and after scoring Arsenal's equaliser, she is expected to retain her place in the side.

The Netherlands international is expected to be joined in the forward line by Caitlin Foord and Stina Blackstenius.

As for the visitors, they will be unable to call upon Katrine Veje, although Nicoline Sorensen is set to return to the matchday squad after spending over a year on the sidelines.

Hanna Bennison dropped down to the bench for Everton's League Cup win over Sheffield United, but she could return to the starting lineup on Saturday.

After scoring her first Everton goal last weekend, Snoeijs will now attempt open her WSL account when she leads the line against Arsenal.

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
Zinsberger; Maritz, Wubben-Moy, Catley, McCabe; Maanum, Nobbs, Walti; Blackstenius, Foord, Miedema

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Ramsey; Finnigan, Sevecke, George; Graham, Bjorn, Galli, Stenevik; Park, Bennison, Snoeijs

We say: Arsenal Women 3-0 Everton Ladies

Arsenal may have lost their last home game, but we expect them to have too much quality for Everton on Sunday, and we think that they could ease to a comfortable victory.
