Arsene Wenger confirms Jack Wilshere ankle injury

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirms that midfielder Jack Wilshere "rolled his ankle" in his side's 2-0 defeat away at Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he is unsure of the severity of the ankle injury picked up by Jack Wilshere against Borussia Dortmund.

Wilshere completed the 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat in Germany, but given the midfielder's previous problems with his ankle, Wenger has admitted that he was cautious about ruling out a long-term problem.

The Frenchman told reporters: "Wilshere has turned his ankle - it's difficult to say how bad it is.

"I'm a bit cautious because of his history. Normally, it's not too bad."

Wilshere has started the season in fine style, delivering a man-of-the-match performance against Besiktas in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier last month before netting an important goal in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Saturday.
