Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League meeting with Arsenal on Monday evening.

Liverpool will attempt to continue their winning start to the new Premier League campaign when they play host to Arsenal on Monday evening.

The defending champions are one of five teams to have posted two successive wins, seeing off Leeds United and Chelsea respectively.

However, despite having been able to rest players for the EFL Cup tie against Lincoln City on Thursday evening, Jurgen Klopp still has a number of injury concerns.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown at Anfield.

Jordan Henderson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Quadriceps
Possible return date: October (vs. Aston Villa)

Despite having missed the EFL Cup fixture due to a quadriceps issue, Henderson is not far away from a return to action. However, Klopp has revealed that the club captain will not feature on Monday night.

Joe Gomez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Arsenal)

Gomez has missed the last two matches having picked up a knock ahead of the meeting with Chelsea. However, the England international returned to training on Friday, putting him in line to feature in the squad for the fixture against the Gunners.

Joel Matip

Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Everton)

While Gomez is on the brink of a return, the same cannot be said of one of his defensive teammates. Matip has been ruled out until after the international break due to sustaining an injury in training last week.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Possible return date: Unknown

Oxlade-Chamberlain is yet to play a minute of football this season due to a knee problem picked up in August. While no return date has been revealed by Klopp, the midfielder is unlikely to play any part until after the international break.

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago, a recent arrival from Bayern Munich, had been tipped to make his first Liverpool start on Monday evening. However, the Spaniard has reportedly sustained an unspecified injury in training, resulting in the playmaker emerging as a doubt.
