Bernd Leno: 'Arsenal must strike right balance'

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno believes that the Gunners have the quality to outscore any opponent but must strike the right balance between attack and defence.

Bernd Leno has insisted that Arsenal must learn to strike the right balance between attack and defence.

The German goalkeeper feels the front three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe have the quality to help the Gunners score against any opponent once they hone their understanding as an attacking trident.

However, he also insists that Arsenal need to tighten up defensively in order to make the most of the firepower at their disposal, having had to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the Emirates in Sunday's North London derby against Tottenham.

"Yes, I think [Arsenal can outscore any opponent]. You can see the game against Liverpool we had one or two chances to score when it was 0-0, so we can score with our quality in that top three," Leno told the Evening Standard.

"We can score against everybody, but I think the key is always the balance with the defence because, in the end, that is the most important thing. We know about our character but also about the quality.

"The three players up top, with Pepe also there now, we have unbelievable quality and they can score the big chances, but also score from nothing and so the other teams always know and have to be aware that we have a lot of dangerous players and that gives us big confidence."

Arsenal have scored in each of the four Premier League games they have played so far this season, but have also conceded six goals in that time, keeping just one clean sheet.
