Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that he had not heard of Matteo Guendouzi before the young Frenchman moved to the Gunners.
The North London outfit made a number of additions during the summer transfer window, including the 19-year-old signing from Lorient.
Guendouzi has impressed in his opening outings in the Premier League, but Mkhitaryan has acknowledged that he did not know what to expect from his new teammate.
The Armenia international told RMC: "To be honest, I had never heard of him. I had never seen him play.
"He really impressed me in his first training session. We said: 'Oh, he's got a lot of quality, he can bring a lot of good things to the club'. When the coach decided to start him in his first game for the club, I agreed with it because he deserved it."
Arsenal spent in the region of £7m to sign the France Under-20 international.
