Jack Wilshere: 'My goal ratio is embarrassing'

Jack Wilshere admits that he would like to score more goals for Arsenal and is enjoying his 'number 10' role.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted that he should be scoring more goals.

The 21-year-old has featured regularly for the Gunners this season, but is yet to find the net, while teammate Aaron Ramsey has three in the league alone.

He reveals that he has always wanted the number 10 shirt, and to play in an attacking role, but needs more goals.

"I used to joke with Robin [van Persie] that when he left the [number 10] shirt was mine," Wilshere told the Daily Mail.

"It was the number I wore in the youth teams and in the reserves. Number 10 is the job I want; in the middle of things, moving the ball forward.

"I'd like to score more goals. Right now my goal ratio is embarrassing, but my job is to make things happen, be creative."

Wilshere is likely to return to the Arsenal side to face Swansea City this evening, after being rested for the midweek League Cup win over West Bromwich Albion.
