Arsenal and Barcelona are reportedly both surprised at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's arrival in Catalonia as talks over a loan move continue.

Arsenal and Barcelona have reportedly been left surprised at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's arrival in Catalonia.

The two clubs remain locked in negotiations over a loan deal for the Gabon international until the end of the season, which is not set to include an option or obligation to buy.

There is said to be confidence from both sides that an agreement will be reached before Monday's 11pm deadline, and Aubameyang has flown to Barcelona as talks continue.

However, football.london's Chris Wheatley reports that both Arsenal and Barcelona were surprised at Aubameyang's arrival at the airport, with a deal still yet to be wrapped up.

Aubameyang's mammoth £350k-a-week wages are thought to be presenting a slight stumbling block in negotiations, with the ex-Borussia Dortmund man needing to take a significant hit on his finances in order to complete a move to Barca.

The 32-year-old has not played for Arsenal since being stripped of the captaincy last month, and the Gunners have been told by Espanyol that potential replacement Raul de Tomas is not for sale.
