Arsenal will be unable to afford Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir this summer due to Mesut Ozil's wages, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly unable to afford Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir due to Mesut Ozil's wages.

Fekir, who came close to joining Liverpool in last summer's transfer window, is widely expected to leave Lyon ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

According to L'Equipe, Arsenal have made contact over a move for the France international, who scored 12 times in all competitions for Les Gones last term.

However, the report claims that the Gunners have made it clear that they would not be able to sign Fekir while Ozil is still at the club due to his £350,000-a-week wage packet.

Unai Emery's side are said to be keen to sell the German this summer but are yet to receive any concrete bids.

Real Betis, Sevilla and Valencia have all been credited with an interest in Fekir, who will see his contract at the Groupama Stadium expire at the end of next season.
