Arsenal have reportedly approached the representatives of Malang Sarr to discuss a potential deal for the defender ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
The 21-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer, having left Nice at the end of June.
A number of clubs have been linked with the centre-back, and according to The Sun, Arsenal are in the hunt, with the Gunners making contact with Sarr's agent.
The report, though, claims that Mikel Arteta's side might have registered their interest too late as clubs from Italy and Germany are already ahead of them in the pecking order.
Sarr came through the youth system at Nice and went on to represent the French outfit on 119 occasions before his contract came to an end on June 30.
The France Under-21 international made 20 appearances for Les Aiglons during the 2019-20 campaign.
