Arsenal are reportedly preparing to battle Manchester City for the signature of Barcelona's Sergi Roberto.
The versatile Spaniard has talked up his chances of signing a new deal with the Blaugrana, but as things stand he is still due to become a free agent next summer.
City were linked with a swoop for Roberto over the summer transfer window, but Pep Guardiola's side could now be forced to compete for the 29-year-old's signature.
According to Fichajes, talks over a new deal at Barcelona for Roberto have now hit a brick wall, with Arsenal now seeking to take advantage with a free transfer next summer.
The report adds that Roberto was after a long-term deal with the Blaugrana, who were only prepared to hand him another two-year contract, and he is now widely expected to seek pastures new in 2022.
Roberto boasts two goals and one assist from 11 appearances in all competitions this term and has won six La Liga titles, six Copa del Reys and two Champions Leagues during his time at Camp Nou.
