Inter Milan head a queue of European clubs that will try to sign Arsenal captain Robin van Persie in January, according to a report.

Italian club Inter Milan are preparing to test Arsenal's resolve by submitting an offer for their captain Robin van Persie during the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

The Dutch international has just 18 months remaining on his contact at the Emirates Stadium, but talks have yet to take place regarding an extension to that deal.

As a result, a number of clubs are said to be monitoring the situation, with Inter coach Claudio Ranieri expected to be the first to act.

The Italian boss is believed to be unhappy with the striking options that he inherited from Gian Piero Gasperini.

Only Diego Milito has found the net more than once in Serie A this season, while summer signing Diego Forlan continues to adapt to life in Italy.

AC Milan, Juventus and Bayern Munich are also reportedly keen on taking Van Persie from the Premier League.
