Real Betis are reportedly set to do battle with Genoa for the signature of Arsenal outcast Sokratis.
The centre-back is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this month after being left out of Mikel Arteta's Premier League and Europa League squads for the 2020-21 campaign.
Despite reported interest from Napoli and Fenerbahce, Genoa were thought to be leading the race for their former player, who is set to become a free agent in the summer.
However, Tutto Mercato claims that Betis are desperate to shore up their backline in the January transfer window and have earmarked Sokratis as an ideal signing.
The report adds that the La Liga side will have to part ways with at least one player before they can buy, but Arsenal are keen to recoup a fee for Sokratis this month rather than let him walk away for nothing in the summer.
The 32-year-old has turned out twice for the Under-23s team this season and boasts six goals in 69 first-team appearances for the Gunners.
