Alex McLeish has confirmed that he is happy with the performance Shay Given put in during his Aston Villa debut this afternoon.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper kept a clean sheet as Villa and Fulham played out a 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage.
"Shay is experienced. He tells the defence when to go into the right positions," McLeish told reporters after the match.
"You might have seen other keepers diving for some of those shots, but instead they were point-blank straight at him.
"He's a great goalkeeper."
Given joined Villa in July from Manchester City for a fee of £3.5m.
