Tim Sherwood: 'Aston Villa full of confidence ahead of Manchester United clash'

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood warns Manchester United that his players are full of confidence ahead of their Premier League clash at Villa Park.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has revealed that his players are full of confidence ahead of Friday's clash with Manchester United.

The Villans got the new Premier League season off to a positive start last weekend by earning a 1-0 win away to Bournemouth.

With the likes of Wayne Rooney, Memphis Depay and Juan Mata all heading to Villa Park this weekend, Sherwood is backing his side to provide United with a serious test in their first home match of the campaign.

"On Friday, we want to give [the fans] a good weekend," he told the club's official website. "That's always our aim - to entertain them, please them and send them home happy. We want to do that this weekend.

"There's a spring in everyone's step. Obviously winning helps. It puts that confidence into the group. We have worked very hard in pre-season so to come off our first game with a victory, away from home with a clean sheet, was all we could ask for."

Recent reports have suggested that Villa are close to signing Barcelona winger Adama Traore for around £7m.
