Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov has insisted that he is "very happy" at the club, despite speculation linking him with a move to Sunderland.
Rumours had circulated that the Bulgarian was keen to reunite himself with former Villa manager Martin O'Neill at the Black Cats.
However, the 32-year-old believes that his immediate future remains at Villa Park.
"[The speculation] came out from the blue and I'm very happy at Villa," said Petrov.
"When the transfer windows come there is speculation, but I'm a Villa player and every time I go out I play with all my heart.
"I don't have the intention to go. I want to stay. It's up to them if they want me but I'd love to stay and I'm enjoying it."
Petrov joined Villa in 2006 from Scottish Premier League side Celtic.
