Sunderland are thought to be pondering a January move for Rangers frontman Nikica Jelavic.
New Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill is believed to be eager to bring a striker to the Stadium of Light next month as Connor Wickham and Niklas Bendtner remain the only forwards available.
With the ex-Aston Villa boss expected to be given £10m to spend in January, O'Neill has set his sights on Jelavic, who could be worth up to £7m, according to the Daily Mail.
Premier League opponents Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion are also understood to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.
