Diego Simeone wanted extra goal

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone says that he was desperate for his side to score another goal in their 3-0 win over Valencia.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has admitted that he was desperate for his side to score another goal in their 3-0 win over Valencia at the weekend.

A fourth goal for the home side would have moved them above Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table on goal difference, but Simeone's side could not break through in the latter stages.

"I always want more in every situation and I don't like being passive. We were looking to keep going forward and to ensure that our team wasn't content with how we were doing," he told reporters at a press conference.

Diego Costa took his tally to 21 for the season on Sunday, but missed from the penalty spot in the second period.
