Neymar to return to Brazil on Thursday

Barcelona forward Neymar will travel back to Brazil on Thursday due to his suspension for the La Liga clash with Valencia at the weekend.

Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino has revealed that Neymar will be allowed to travel back to Brazil on Thursday due to his suspension for the La Liga clash with Valencia at the weekend.

An accumulation of bookings means that the Brazilian will be suspended for Barcelona's last league match of 2014 and he has therefore been given permission to return to his home country.

"Neymar will not play on Sunday [through suspension] and has already been permitted to travel back to Brazil on Thursday. He will go to Brazil then and he will have 10 days off," Martino told reporters at a press conference.

"Any time I have a player who can be given an extra day off because he has yet to rest, because of the Confederations Cup, playing with Santos and then Barca, then I will look to give him that rest."

Neymar has scored six goals in his last three games.
