Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo is reportedly keen to extend his stay with the Spanish giants, as Xavi's project with the club excites the Uruguayan international.

Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo has reportedly set his sights on lengthening his career at Camp Nou, with his current deal set to expire in 2023.

The 23-year-old has impressed since Xavi took the reign in Catalonia, and with his ever-improving performances Araujo is believed to be earning himself a new contract with the club.

Barcelona's dominant 4-0 display at the Bernabeu against rivals and league leaders Real Madrid on Sunday demonstrated their improvement under Xavi, and the project is said to excite the Uruguayan defender.

Sport reports that Araujo is happy with his life in Barcelona and after the birth of his daughter in the city, he feels at home in Catalonia and would like that to continue in the near future.

The Spanish giants are expected to have to fend off bids from abroad, in particular from Premier League outfits, but Barca are in a strong position to retain Araujo past his current end date on his contract.

Araujo has featured 72 times in total for Barcelona since arriving at the club in 2020, chipping in with six goals, four of which have come this season.
