Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has lavished praise on Arthur, claiming that he 'sees himself' in the Brazilian.

Arthur moved to Barcelona from Gremio during the summer, and the midfielder has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan giants this season.

Club legend Xavi, who still turns out for Al Sadd, has branded the South American "a very quick thinker", and believes that "he has massive untapped potential".

"I see myself when I see Arthur on television," Xavi told Catalunya Radio. "He is a very quick thinker. He has a natural talent, but most of all, he has a lot of room to improve through training.

"Arthur is already a mature player and I see that he has massive untapped potential. The priority during any match is to never lose the ball and he comes out of a tricky situation with ease. He has a strong personality already."

The 22-year-old made his senior debut for Brazil in 2018 having previously been capped at Under-17 level.
