Ajax full-back Sergino Dest has revealed that he visited Bayern Munich during a recent trip to Germany after learning of their interest in signing him.
The 19-year-old has established himself in the first team at the Johan Cruyff ArenA this season, making 36 appearances across all competitions and directly contributing to eight goals.
Bayern are understood to have failed with a bid for the defender during the January transfer window but intend to revive their interest this summer.
However, the two clubs are thought to be some way apart on a fee, with Bayern initially offering €22m (£20.3m) and Ajax holding out for closer to €33m (£30.5m).
The German giants are reportedly hopeful that they can compromise on a deal with €26m (£24m), and Dest has now offered the strongest hint yet that he would be interested in the move.
"I was recently in Germany because I have family there. I am aware of Bayern's interest so if everything goes as planned I want to know more about the club so I thought it would be a good idea to pay them a visit while I was there," Dest told Ajax1.nl.
Dest is a full USA international, making three appearances for the senior team since his debut last year.
