Brazil striker Fred is adamant that international teammate Neymar should remain in his home country amid speculation of a move away.
The Santos forward is one of the most in-demand talents in world football and has been linked with a whole host of Europe's finest clubs, including Barcelona.
However, compatriot Fred, who plays for Fluminense, insists that the 21-year-old should stay local in order to develop his skills.
"We Brazilians have to thank god to have a player like him in Brazil," said Fred.
"We have to strengthen the chorus of support to get him to stay here, but in the end he will decide.
"Brazilian football is at a very high level and it will help the country with the 2014 World Cup if our stars stayed close to home."
The two are expected to form Brazil's attack when they face Italy in a friendly on Thursday.
