Steve Cotterill: 'It has been a strange week since Wembley win'

Steve Cotterill claims that Bristol City's "strange week" since beating Walsall in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final impacted their performance against Barnsley.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has hinted that a "strange week" since his team won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy may have impacted on his side's performance against Barnsley.

The Robins needed a late Joe Bryan equaliser to rescue a point against the Tykes, who are unbeaten in nine games since Lee Johnson took charge at Oakwell.

However, Cotterill believes that City still had enough chances to win the game late on.

He is quoted by the club's official Twitter feed as saying: "It could have been three points. Today we were out of sorts. I don't think one player played to their maximum. It didn't help us going in front because our performance dipped!

"The conditions and wind were awful. It wasn't a great game because of that. I think, with our late chances, we probably deserved to win it.

"It's been a strange week. Lots of emotion. It's good to get this out of the way really after Wembley."

City are now 11 points ahead of second-placed Preston North End in the League One table.
