Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard hand Chelsea a 2-0 lead over Wigan Athletic at the interval.

Chelsea lead Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the interval after two goals inside the opening seven minutes.

The Blues took the lead after just two minutes when Eden Hazard slipped in to Branislav Ivanovic and the defender found the bottom corner from inside the box.

Meanwhile, it was two five minutes later when Frank Lampard found the bottom corner from the spot after Ivan Ramis had felled Hazard in the penalty area.

Wigan did mount a strong response, and might have cut the score to 2-1 when Victor Moses found Franco di Santo in the box, but he headed over after 20 minutes.

The home side continued to push in the latter stages of the half - with Moses and Di Santo testing Petr Cech five minutes before the break - but Chelsea's two-goal lead remained intact.
