Antonio Conte is pleased with his Chelsea players for showing "great commitment" and "desire to fight" as they beat Newcastle United 3-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Antonio Conte has praised his Chelsea charges for their "great commitment" and "desire to fight" in Sunday's 3-0 win over Newcastle United in the FA Cup.

Michy Batshuayi scored a first-half brace and Marcos Alonso added a third via a free kick midway through the second half for a dominant fourth-round victory over the Magpies at Stamford Bridge.

With the Blues failing to reach the EFL Cup final after losing to Arsenal in the last four in midweek, Conte has urged his players to give their best in the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League.

"It was a good performance," Conte told BBC Sport after the game. "After the [EFL] Cup game against Arsenal I was disappointed, but at the same time it was a good run in the competition.

"Last season we were knocked out in the second round, this season we reach the semi-final, though I hoped until end to reach the final.

"Now it is very important to try and give our best in every competition today. The response was positive, I am happy for the players. They have shown me great commitment, a desire to fight."

The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup takes place on Monday evening.
