Jose Mourinho: 'Objective remains top four'

Jose Mourinho insists that his side remain "outsiders" for the Premier League title despite beating Manchester City last week.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reiterated that the target for this season remains a top-four finish and not a push for the Premier League title.

Mourinho's side became the first team to take points from the Etihad on Monday night with a 1-0 win, but despite this the manager said that Chelsea are "outsiders" at best for the title.

"It's the same," BBC Sport quotes Mourinho as saying. "We are still third. The good thing is that we can feel now a little bit of space after Liverpool in fourth and the other ones.

"The big objective for us is to finish top four or top three and when you see that little gap after Liverpool from us that gap is good because it gives us that stability and we can enjoy and get results that will allow us to stay at the top of the league.

"I'm not saying we're not going to win, I'm saying we're not candidates, we're outsiders."

Mourinho's side have a six-point gap to fourth-placed Liverpool.
