Norwich City have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
Despite having featured for the Blues during pre-season and the club being short of homegrown players, Drinkwater will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge before the start of the new season.
Brighton & Hove Albion were credited with an interest last week, while other Premier League clubs may look to secure a loan deal in the coming days.
Norwich have emerged as contenders for the Englishman, however, with the Daily Mail claiming that the Canaries have already made contact with Chelsea.
With the West Londoners likely to be prepared to pay some of Drinkwater's wages, the final decision could come down to the 29-year-old, who failed to make a single competitive outing during the last campaign.
The former Leicester City man still has three years left on his deal with Chelsea.
