Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has hit out at Chelsea's treatment of his former teammate Fernando Torres.

The Spanish shotstopper said that the club failed to support him when he struggled to find form, singling out ex-coach Andre Villas-Boas for criticism.

"I don't think Chelsea, as a club, delivered for him – the pressure was there, but I don't think it was only down to Fernando," The Mirror quotes Reina as saying.

"The difference between Fernando and myself is I have had the confidence of the people at my club all the time. I don't think that has been the case for him at Chelsea.

"It is much easier to get over mistakes when you know you have the confidence of your manager and your teammates. With Andre Villas-Boas especially, I don't think Fernando felt that."

Torres endured a troubled run at Chelsea following his £50m switch from Liverpool, but recently scored a vital goal against Barcelona in the Champions League and bagged a hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers in the Premiership.

Liverpool and Chelsea will go head to head in the FA Cup final this afternoon (Saturday).
