Chelsea have reportedly made a £27m bid to sign Juventus defender Mattia Caldara this summer.
Caldara joined Juventus in January 2017 but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Serie A champions, having been loaned back to his boyhood club Atalanta until this summer.
The 24-year-old is currently in pre-season training with the Old Lady, but speculation has been raised over his future with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund both reportedly interested in his signature.
Calciomercato reports that Chelsea have now made the first move by submitting an official bid for the centre-back worth around £27m.
However, Juve are understood to have immediately rejected the offer and have no plans to sell the Italy international this summer.
New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is also thought to be interested in Caldara's Juventus teammate Daniele Rugani, who is reportedly closing in on a £35m switch to Stamford Bridge.
Sarri confirmed during his first press conference as Chelsea manager that he is in the market for a new centre-back this summer.
