Everton manager Roberto Martinez is reportedly hoping to conclude a permanent move for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, as Didier Drogba looks set for a return to Stamford Bridge.
According to The People, Jose Mourinho is still not convinced by the Belgian international's abilities to provide a regular source of goals.
However, the Portuguese coach is also thought to be keen to see the 21-year-old not join a Champions League rival, having witnessed Thibaut Courtois help end the Londoners' dreams of a second Champions League triumph last season.
Lukaku himself had been hoping to play in Europe's premier club competition, but interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus is said to have waned in recent weeks, leaving Everton in pole position.
Lukaku netted 15 times for the Toffees last term.
