Los Angeles Galaxy are reportedly hopeful of signing Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard on a free transfer.

Los Angeles Galaxy are said to be interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

The 34-year-old has 12 months remaining on his current £130,000-per-week contract at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea may need to reduce their current wage bill in order to comply with UEFA's new Financial Fair Play regulations and, as a result, Galaxy hope to sign Lampard without paying a transfer fee, according to the Daily Mail.

If Lampard were to join Galaxy he would be reunited with former England captain David Beckham.

The pair last played alongside each other during the Three Lions' 3-0 win over Belarus in October 2009.
