Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew unaware of talks with Dwight Gayle over new deal

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says that he is unaware of reports that Dwight Gayle has opened talks with the club about a new contract.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has claimed that he is in the dark over reports that the club are in talks with Dwight Gayle over a new contract.

The Premier League club were willing to sell the 24-year-old in the summer after accepting a bid from Bristol City.

However, Gayle turned the Championship club down and has since impressed for the Eagles, leading to reports that they are close to agreeing a new deal.

When asked about the reports in today's press conference, Pardew said: "It's not something I'm aware of. We obviously have to keep an eye on players' contracts as they run down, but I think we are pretty comfortable where we are."

Gayle's current terms expire in 2017.
