Deportivo La Coruna secure a return to La Liga having gained promotion from the Segunda Division with a 1-0 win over Real Jaen.

Deportivo La Coruna have gained promotion to La Liga courtesy of a 1-0 victory against Real Jaen.

The Blue and Whites, who were relegated from Spain's top division 12 months ago, had taken just three points from their previous five games of the season heading into tonight's clash.

However, a narrow win at the Riazor was enough to push the 2000 La Liga winners over the finish line with one week of the season still left to play.

Defender Carlos Marchena struck the winning goal in the first half, with Deportivo holding out for the win to spark wild scenes of celebration.
