Former England midfielder David Beckham does not share the pessimism surrounding England's build-up to Euro 2012.
Beckham believes England can turn public perception on its head and spring a surprise at this summer's tournament.
"I think we're going to go to the European Championship and surprise a lot of people," the 37-year-old told the Mail on Sunday.
"Expectations are not as high as they have been in previous competitions but we're talking about England here. No one can doubt the talent or the passion we have."
Beckham was at Wembley on Saturday to collect an award to commemorate his achievement of being one of only five men to play more than 100 times for England.
