England friendly suspended after thunderstorm

England's final warm-up game before the World Cup is suspended after an electrical storm engulfs Miami's Sun Life Stadium.

With the game at 0-0, referee Ricardo Salazar took the decision to remove the players from the pitch on safety grounds. The match will be delayed for at least 30 minutes to allow the storm to clear.

Fans inside Sun Life Stadium were asked to leave the stand to take shelter, and the referee told ITV that officials will wait half an hour before assessing the situation.

Salazar said: "If we have to delay further, which we hope we won't have to do, then we will. This is all for the safety of the players."

England's squad are due to fly to Brazil later on Saturday ahead of their first game against Italy in Manaus next weekend.
