Wayne Rooney has shrugged off criticism from former Manchester United teammate Paul Scholes, who suggested that the star forward may be past his prime.
Scholes also speculated on whether the England management had the courage to drop the forward after stating that Rooney was "worn out" after a long career.
Rooney told reporters: "He's been a teammate but he's been away from the first team for a long time.
"I'm not really interested in what anyone else has got to say. I'm interested in what Roy Hodgson and the coaching staff here and the people around me say. People have their opinions but I don't agree with them."
Rooney responded to his critics on Wednesday after he scored his 39th England goal in a 2-2 draw against Ecuador in Miami.
