Team News: Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick in for England, Wojciech Szczesny in goal for Poland

Roy Hodgson makes two changes to his England side for tonight's critical World Cup qualifier against Poland, with Chris Smalling and Michael Carrick coming in.

Roy Hodgson has made a pair of changes to his England side for tonight's critical World Cup qualifier against Poland.

Manchester United's Chris Smalling is chosen to replace the suspended Kyle Walker at right-back while in midfield, Michael Carrick comes in for Frank Lampard.

Poland hand a start to Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny between the sticks ahead of Southampton's Artur Boruc, with Borussia Dortmund frontman Robert Lewandowski the danger man in attack.

England virtually have to win to reach the finals in Brazil next year as second-placed Ukraine are up against minnows San Marino, who haven't earned a single point this campaign.

England: Hart; Smalling, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines; Carrick, Gerrard; Townsend, Rooney, Welbeck; Sturridge

Poland:Szczesny; Celeban, Jedrzejczyk, Glik, Wojtkowiak; Krychowiak, M.Lewandowski; Blaszczykowski, Mierzejewski, Sobota; R.Lewandowski
