Everton will not appeal "harsh" red card issued to Kevin Mirallas

Everton manager Roberto Martinez confirms that the club will not appeal Kevin Mirallas's straight red card from Saturday's goalless draw against Swansea.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the club will not appeal against the straight red card issued to Kevin Mirallas during Saturday's stalemate against Swansea City.

The Belgian international was sent off inside two minutes of coming on as a substitute during the goalless draw at the Liberty Stadium.

The straight red card was issued by referee Stuart Attwell during three minutes of stoppage time when Mirallas caught Modou Barrow's ankle while challenging for the ball.

In today's press conference, Martinez said: "Kevin's red card was harsh and he was over keen, but the way the system works I don't think we have a chance of it being overturned."

Meanwhile, Everton are preparing for tomorrow's Capital One Cup tie against Reading.
