Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini says that his knee injury is not as serious as first feared.

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has insisted that he will try to return to action for the Toffees "as soon as possible".

The Belgium international picked up a knee injury during the side's 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic last weekend.

"I am currently suffering from a knee injury. Fortunately it is not too serious but I will have to miss the two games with Belgium," Fellaini told the club's official website.

"I am hoping to be back playing for Everton as soon as possible. I am extremely disappointed and I now have to rest in order to get back to full fitness so I can help the team with some important games coming up."

Reports emerged recently claiming that the playmaker could be sidelined for up to three weeks.
