Sporting director Marcel Brands reveals that Everton want to make a number of player sales during the January transfer window.

Sporting director Marcel Brands has revealed that Everton will prioritise player sales during the January transfer window.

Everton currently sit in fifth position in the Premier League standings, just four points adrift of leaders Manchester United.

However, after spending big during 2020, Brands has suggested that there must be outgoings before the Toffees can entertain any further arrivals at Goodison Park.

Speaking at Everton's general meeting, Brands said: "We are still working to offload some players for new challenges in their careers. We don't expect to sign new players in this window.

"In the current squad we have a good balance of experienced players, young players, and also players with homegrown status.

"The average age squad age is just above 26 years old. This is a big difference with the squad of two seasons ago where the average age was a lot higher."

Forward Cenk Tosun is among the players who are reportedly available for transfer before the end of the month.
