Jerome Boateng: 'Germany must forget World Cup success'

Jerome Boateng claims that Germany must forget their success at the World Cup if they are to return to their best form.

Germany's Jerome Boateng has urged his teammates to forget about their triumph at the World Cup to ensure that they can continue to be successful.

Joachim Low's side has recently struggled to produce the same dominant displays which led them to success in Brazil in the summer, and Boateng believes that Germany must not continue to rely on their reputation.

"We need to wake up," the Bayern Munich defender told Bild. "We have to get the World Cup feelings out of our heads.

"It is important to play hard and win in the coming year. Then every opponent will recognise again that we are Germany, the world champions."

Germany take on Gibraltar in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday evening.
