Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Gotze recalled to Germany squad

Joachim Low calls up Bayern Munich pair for the clashes against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

Bayern Munich midfield pair Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gotze have been recalled to the Germany squad by coach Joachim Low.

Germany would win the group with just two points from the games against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

Low has decided to call up the pair despite them both only recently returning from respective injuries over the past few weeks.

"Bastian is a very important player for us given his leadership qualities," Low told reporters.

"Mario has been out for a long time and he now needs match practice and to get back into a rhythm and I'm very pleased to have them both back."

Schweinsteiger has been capped 98 times, while Gotze has played 22 matches for Germany.
