Germany coach Joachim Low has revealed that he plans to talk with Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling this week, with a view to a potential international recall.
Kessling has not played for Germany since the 2010 World Cup, despite finding the target 25 times in the Bundesliga for Bayer last season.
The 29-year-old has started the campaign in sparkling form with seven goals in nine games, prompting Low to concede that he will contact Kiessling to discuss his international future.
He told ARD: "He has shown very good performances. I will have a chat with him to discuss some things internally."
Low is short of options in attack for next month's World Cup qualifiers with Sweden and the Republic of Ireland, after Mario Gomez suffered a knee injury playing for Fiorentina.
The Germany coach is due to announce his squad for those qualifiers on Friday morning.
