Nigel Pearson agrees new three-year Leicester contract

Leciester manager Nigel Pearson signs a new three-year contract at the club, saying that he is "proud" to be manager of the Foxes.

Nigel Pearson has said that he is "proud" to be manager of Leicester City after signing a new three-year contract at the King Power Stadium.

The 50-year-old, who is in his second spell in charge of the Foxes, was rewarded for guiding the club to the Premier League last season with an extension to his current deal.

Assistant managers Steve Walsh and Craig Shakespeare have also agreed to remain at the Midlands outfit until June 2017.

"I have always seen my long-term future, and that of my staff, at Leicester City," Pearson is quoted as saying by BT Sport. "On the back of the success we have worked so hard to achieve, I have always been confident that my future would remain here.

"I feel very proud to be the manager of a club with genuine ambition, a clear direction in which it wants to go and loyal owners that are prepared to support its development."

Leicester begin their return to the top tier with a home clash against Everton on August 16.
