Liverpool confirm length of Jordan Rossiter absence

Teenage Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter will be out of action for two months after having surgery on an ankle injury.

Liverpool have confirmed that young midfielder Jordan Rossiter will be sidelined for around two months with an ankle injury.

The 17-year-old was required to have surgery on the problem which he picked up at the end of last month in the FA Youth Cup.

"It's such a shame for Jordan because he was doing so well and it was quite an innocuous thing the way the injury happened," Reds academy director Alex Inglethorpe told the club website.

"He went up for a header and landed very badly on his ankle and he has had to have surgery on that now.

"His character is outstanding and he has got one of the best mentalities I have ever worked with. I know it's difficult for him at the moment but he will come back stronger than ever."

Rossiter scored on his full debut for the club in September against Middlesbrough in the League Cup.
