Film star Brad Pitt admits his fondness for Liverpool FC, adding to the A-listers that lend their support to the Merseyside club.

Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has declared himself a fan of Liverpool Football Club.

During an interview for his new film, Moneyball, Pitt said that he if he was not a Red he would be "disowned" by some friends.

"I have some friends who are very close to Liverpool, so if I went another way I might be disowned," said the 47-year-old.

Pitt's wife Angelina Jolie also declared that her adopted son, Maddox, only wanted to play for the Anfield side after he spent three days in Alder Hey hospital while she was filming Tomb Raider in 2002.

Pulp Fiction's Samuel L Jackson, Sex And The City actress Kim Cattrall and Mike Myers of Austin Powers are some of the other famous names that lend their support to the Merseyside club.
