Liverpool could go four top-flight home games without scoring for the first time ever when they welcome Manchester City to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool will hope to avoid setting an unwanted club top-flight record when they welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Despite boasting the formidable attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the Reds have found Premier League goals at Anfield hard to come by recently.

Jurgen Klopp has witnessed his side fail to breach Manchester United, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion's defence in their last three home games in the league, and they now welcome a Man City side renowned for their defensive solidity.

If Liverpool fail to find the back of the net on Sunday, it will mark the first time ever that the Premier League champions have failed to score in four consecutive home games in the top flight.

Klopp's side are the only team in the English top division yet to register a home goal since the turn of the year, and a defeat would also represent the first time since 1963 that Liverpool have lost three top-flight home games in a row.

However, the fourth-placed Reds, who currently find themselves seven points behind Man City, have not lost to the visitors at Anfield in the league since 2003 - a run of 17 matches without defeat.
