Rick Parry: 'Liverpool must remain patient'

Former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry believes that theclub's owners should not make any knee-jerk reactions based on the outcome of this season.

Former Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has told the club's owners that they should not make any knee-jerk reactions based on a disappointing season.

The Reds have gone three seasons without winning a trophy and they are now less likely to finish in the Champions League places following Tuesday night's defeat at Hull City.

It has been suggested that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could lose his job at Anfield, but Parry has urged those associated with the club to be patient.

"You have to stay strong. You've got to stick to your principles and not be blown this way and that," Parry told BBC Sport. "By last season's standards, this season's been a little bit disappointing.

"Then again, two domestic cup semi-finals and still technically in contention for a Champions League place is not a million miles away."

Parry was chief executive of the Merseysiders between 1998 and 2009.
