Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has enquired about the availability of Celtic striker Georgios Samaras, according to reports.

Liverpool have reportedly made a shock enquiry to Celtic for Greek striker Georgios Samaras.

The Hoops forward has impressed in the Champions League this season, scoring in three successive away matches including a header against Barcelona.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to sign a striker in January and will turn his attention to Samaras if he fails to lure Daniel Sturridge, according to The Sun.

Samaras is under contract at Celtic Park until 2014 but is believed to be keen to prove himself in the Premier League following a difficult spell with Manchester City.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is confident of keeping his Celtic squad together after they qualified for the Champions League knockout stages in midweek.
