Werder Bremen have reportedly opened talks with Liverpool over a deadline-day deal for Marko Grujic.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been with the Reds since January 2016 but has spent much of that time out on loan, with spells at Red Star Belgrade and Cardiff City followed by two years in the Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp - instrumental in bringing him to the club - has now sanctioned his exit, having acknowledged that his first-team opportunities will be limited.
The website says that both a loan exit and a permanent transfer are on the table for Werder, who look set to lose Davy Klaassen to Ajax today.
In recent weeks the Serbia international had also been linked with Premier League sides West Ham United and Southampton, as well as a permanent £20m move to Hertha.
Grujic scored nine goals in 51 appearances during his two years with the capital outfit.
